Sabugal, a picturesque town in Portugal, transforms into a winter wonderland during the Christmas season, offering a unique blend of tradition and festivity. From December 7th, 2024, to January 7th, 2025, Sabugal hosts Portugal’s largest natural nativity scene, spanning 1,500 square meters and crafted entirely from natural materials like chestnut logs, ivy, and moss. This immersive display allows visitors to walk through life-sized biblical scenes, capturing the essence of Bethlehem.
The town’s festive spirit extends beyond the nativity scene. The streets are adorned with twinkling lights and decorations, creating a magical atmosphere that enchants both locals and visitors. A Christmas market complements the celebrations, offering traditional crafts, local delicacies, and holiday treats, providing a perfect opportunity to find unique gifts and savor regional flavors.
